You will need a mat, and I suggest foam blocks and a yoga belt. The mat is essential, and the blocks and belt will help you access poses that you may not be able to otherwise--for example if you have tight hamstrings, you might need a block to reach the ground in some poses.
Like any physical activity, yoga carries some risks, and many of us have previous injuries or conditions that may limit our range of activities. Filling out the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) will help us determine what modifications you may need to practice yoga safely.
